Provides individualized English instruction to adult refugees and immigrants and trains and supervises volunteers who then teach students twice a week. Incoming students speak little or no English (and often are not literate in any language).
classes prepare permanent residents for the naturalization interview and exam.
Seeking volunteers to teach either one student or a small group of students. Instruction is provided at times and locations that are convenient for both the volunteer and the student. Classes are often held at libraries, community centers, apartment community rooms, local elementary schools, and sometimes in our student's homes. No second language skills or prior teaching experience is required to become a volunteer.
